וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֞ל שָׁמְע֣וּ לֵאמֹ֗ר הִכָּ֤ה שָׁאוּל֙ אֶת־נְצִ֣יב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וְגַם־נִבְאַשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בַּפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיִּצָּעֲק֥וּ הָעָ֛ם אַחֲרֵ֥י שָׁא֖וּל הַגִּלְגָּֽל׃
Seluruh Israel mendengar kabar bahwa Saul telah menewaskan wakil penguasa orang Filistin, dan bahwa Israel pun telah menjadi busuk (dibenci) di mata orang Filistin. Maka rakyat dipanggil berkumpul mengikuti Saul ke Gilgal.
